Student Voices 2024
KA lets students work on their English skills with supportive teachers and helpful classmates. By the end of the year, my communication, writing, vocabulary, and grammar skills were drastically better than the beginning of my journey.

オンラインでしたが、帰国子女アカデミーに入って、英語力がすごく伸びました!先生方は教えるのがとても上手で、授業がとても、楽しかったです!
It was online, but my English skills improved a lot when I joined Kikokushijo Academy! The teachers were very good at teaching and the classes were a lot of fun!

I remember excitement overflowing in my heart each week before classes begun—my teacher always taught me something life-changingly intriguing. KA classes are brilliant, valuable times when I can share out loud what I am curious about, as well as clarify what I cannot understand. I think the topics I achieved gaining from KA will live on in my life forever.

I’ve never lived abroad before and my family is all Japanese. On top of that, although I used to go to an International Kindergarten, right now I go to a Japanese elementary school which means the time I have in an English environment is very short compared to others. However, under this condition, I got into Hiroo Gakuen this February.
First, I want to explain how KA isn’t just an amazing learning environment, but also is somewhere that students can create amazing memories. Juken is hard, it’s almost a fact at this point, since we have to sacrifice our time to take classes, do homework, study, and so on to get into amazing schools. However, for me it wasn’t as hard and that’s because of KA. Classes at KA were never boring, they were always fun and I always learned many new things that helped not only for Juken, but my life beyond. I also got the chance to meet many amazing friends that felt the same way as me. At KA, everyone was going through the same thing as I was. It’s odd because, while they’re basically all my enemies, I felt like I wanted them to get into those schools because I know how they’re suffering and working hard for it.
I want to tell the fellow students who are going to go through Juken this next year two things. First, like I said, remember to always be yourself. There’s a quote that I actually searched up and fell in love with the day before the Hiroo Exam which is “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” by Oscar Wilde, an Irish poet and playwright. No matter how hard you try, you can’t be someone else; you can only be you, you are born to be you. Keep in mind this next year to just do your best in your own way and be you. Secondly, remember that it’s okay to fail. A week before Juken, my best friend who goes to the same school and KA told me this, “Remember, it’s okay to fail. The schools you fail are schools that don't fit you. Schools you get in are schools that fit you. Just do your best!! ” (I still think to this day that those words are so amazing that it should be a permanent quote) I want Juken students to know how the results don't only represent your hard work, but it also represents if you fit to that school or not. I’m sure this next year will be a hard one, but it also is exciting and not all so bad. Friends, families, teachers, they all are there for you. And among those many people that are cheering for you, I’m sure KA would be a big part of those people.
